我觉得这个很吓人，IIEP前文有介绍，As space permits, conditionally admitted students enroll in the Iowa Intensive English Program (IIEP) for up to one year.
要是英文水平不达到标准，最多可能要读一年的语言

To change their admission status from conditional to regular (a prerequisite for beginning study in a degree program), students must attain a minimum TOEFL score of 530 on the paper-based test (197 on the computer-based test or 71 on the Internet-based test) and complete an English proficiency evaluation. based on the results, these students may:
be allowed to take a full academic course load excluding English as a Second Language (ESL) courses;
be required to enroll in credit-bearing ESL courses in addition to regular academic courses; or
be required to continue in the IIEP until their language proficiency reaches an appropriate level.
