英语复试通常包含外国语听力及口语测试两部分。自我介绍环节是整场口试的热身，目的是帮助考生放松心情、自然应考，也让主考老师对考生有初步的了解。

这一环节的考试形式可能是考生进行自我阐述，也可能是考官引导考生进行个人情况介绍。前一种形式多用于只有一个考生参加的考试，而后一种形式较多用于两人或三人一组的情况。这环节一般持续1～2分钟。
