wild goose chase的来历

成语 wild goose chase 形容 白费力气的搜寻 或 劳而无功的事情

这个说法第一次出现于 16 世纪一个叫 "wild goose chase" 的赛马运动，在文献里最早被引用于莎士比亚 1597 年名著《罗密欧与朱丽叶》里面：

Romeo and Juliet, Act 2, scene 4

书中一个叫 Mercutio 的人说 : "Nay, if our wits run the wild-goose chase, I am donefor thou hast more of the wild goose in one of thy wits than, I am sure, I have in my whole five."
