什么是XMF格式

作为沿用多年的标准MIDI文件格式的升级，MMA（MIDI协会）定义了一种新的文件格式XMF（eXtensible Music Format可扩展的音乐格式），在同一个文件里包含了SMF、GM（和GM2）、DLS（和DLS-2）多种规定。也就是说，MIDI文件可以和软采样音色、音频录音包括在一个文件中了。XMF文件的回放仍然要依靠一定的硬件，但是XMF和压缩音频格式MP3不同，它可以拆分、编辑、再创造，显然更加灵活。鉴于今后多媒体更多的在有线和无线的网络上传播，创建这样一种格式显然很有意义。Beatnik, IBM, Nokia, Sun Microsystems, US Robotics, Alesis, Cakewalk, Emu, Kurzweil, Line 6, Live Update, NemeSys Music, Propellerheads, Sonic Foundry, Staccato Systems, Steinberg, Yamaha等厂商参与了制定XMF格式的讨论。

我使用google和baidu进行了一些搜索。好象没有发现可以直接播放这种格式文件的相关软件。

又使用英文google搜索了一下。搜索到下面一段文字：

There are several different types of XMF file, and the answer to this question depends on which type you mean.

似乎表达了两层意思：

1：即使有播放器，也是与相应的设备相关的。不同的品牌甚至型号使用的实际XMF文件内容格式都不尽相同。（与AVI文件类似，能播放一个AVI文件并不表示所有的AVI都能播放的，因为其中内容的格式不同。）

2：似乎相对比较通用的播放器还在开发当中。(applications should also appear shortly)

所以，建议你还是在手机上播放。或者查查手机附送光盘或者厂商网站。
